A new political party in Texas has been formed, based on transparency, accountability, problem-solving and collaboration.

The Serve America Movement (SAM) presents itself as “a new party for a new majority,” according to its website, and is comprised of former and current Democrats, Republicans and Independents. However, the party is based primarily on using inductive logic to listen to concerns, rather than being based on rigid ideology, a SAM press release said. SAM works to “disrupt political extremism and self-serving politics.”

“Like many of their fellow Americans, an increasing number of Texans are more frustrated than ever that the current two-party system does not represent them,” SAM Executive Chairman and former Florida Congressman David Jolly said in the press release.

According to the release, SAM filed for with the Texas Secretary of the State as an official party after the number of “independent-leaning Texans” increased due to concerns and disappointment in the 87th Legislative session.

“Our party is dedicated to giving those disenfranchised voters a balanced, sustainable alternative that’s based on pragmatism over ideology, and in doing so, help continue to grow our Party nationwide,” Jolly said in the release.

SAM said that the party will focus on core values representative of the government, while embracing diversity and civility. SAM will also commemorate its founding with a tour through multiple Texas cities by National Chair David Jolly and State Chair Bill King.

“SAM draws on determination, hard work and resilience – values that are at the core of the Lone Star State – and aims to give political control and policy-making power back to Texans through party building and electoral reform. We are excited to work with Texans to help give a real voice back to the people,” Jolly said in the release.

According to the SAM website, 61% of Americans support the configuration of a new political party, while 65% feel they have no say in the American government.

Since the founding of SAM, the organization has obtained more than 70,000 national members and 80 candidates with affiliates in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New York.

SAM is currently working on gaining membership and building the party’s infrastructure across the nation to recruit candidates. SAM is also in the process of qualifying for the ballot in the 2022 elections.
