The city of Richardson announced the appointment of two new assistant city managers. Charles Goff and Michaela Dollar were chosen from over 170 applicants from across the nation, City Manager Don Magner announced.
The vacant positions of the assistant city managers have left a hole in the city manager’s leadership team, which has not been fully staffed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. Magner said that he is excited about Goff and Dollar’s addition to the team.
Goff is from the town of Sunnyvale in North Texas, and Dollar is from Georgetown, a city in the Austin area.
Goff holds bachelor’s degrees in political science, economics, and international studies, all from Baylor University. He also earned a master’s degree in public administration from The University of North Texas and a master’s certificate in planning from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Since 2020, he has been Sunnyvale’s assistant town manager, a position where he oversees Sunnyvale’s Development Services Department, Economic Development, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works.
Before joining Sunnyvale town leadership, Goff served the Town of Addison in various positions, including as the Director of Development Services and Planning.
Goff called the new position “an honor.” He continued, saying, “I look forward to joining Richardson’s outstanding team and continuing the organization’s legacy of high-quality service to the community.”
Dollar earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a master’s degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. With 17 years of experience in economic development, she is currently the president of the Williamson County Economic Development Partnership and the vice president of the Foreign Trade Zone of Central Texas.
Dollar also manages Georgetown’s economic development program as the town’s Economic Development Director. Her work in Georgetown’s economic development program focuses on workforce development, downtown development, small business development, tourism, and arts and culture.
Before working for Georgetown, she held positions in economic development projects for the cities of Dallas and Cedar Hill and multiple other organizations.
Like Hoff, Dollar said she is honored to be a part of Richardson’s leadership team. “Richardson is an incredible city with a ton of momentum,” she said. “My family and I are really looking forward to becoming part of the community and its bright future.”
Magner said he believes that Hoff and Dollar’s skills and experiences will foster economic development in the city of Richardson.
“Each possesses a unique set of skills and experience that will help further our economic development strategic plan, enhance our efforts in special redevelopment areas, and bring creativity to our master planning activities,” he said in a statement.
Goff will begin work with the city on June 13, while Dollar’s work is scheduled to start on July 11.
