Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Wyoming U.S. Representative Liz Cheney, attended a memorial Thursday, January 6, 2022, marking a year since the events of January 6, 2021.

“I am deeply disappointed at the failure of many members of my party to recognize the grave nature of the January 6 attacks and the ongoing threat to our nation,” Dick Cheney said in a statement, following a minute-of-silence ceremony on the House floor, YahooNews reports.

Father and daughter sat in the first row on the Republican side of the chamber as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed appreciation to the United States Capitol Police for guarding them on January 6, allowing Congress to “defeat the insurrection.”

Leaders of the Republican Party were not present, according to Business Insider.

Dick Cheney, who was a congressman from Wyoming in the 1980s and served in the House leadership, commented on the current Republican party leaders, saying, “Well, it’s not a leadership that resembles any of the folks I knew when I was here for ten years.”

Karl Rove, Former Deputy Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush, wrote in the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday:

“If Democrats had done what Trump supporters did on that violent January 6, Republicans would have criticized them mercilessly and been right to do so. Republicans would have torched any high official who encouraged violence or stood mute while it was waged… There can be no soft-pedaling what happened and no absolution for those who planned, encouraged, and aided the attempt to overthrow our democracy. Love of country demands nothing less. That is true patriotism.”

MSN News reports that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis referred to January 6 as “Christmas” for Democrats and the media.

“This is their Christmas, January 6,” he said at a press conference on Thursday, in response to a question from an Insider reporter. “They are going to take this and milk this for anything they can to be able to smear anyone who ever supported Donald Trump.”

At the “Save America” Rally held by Former President Trump on January 6, 2021, he addressed the audience regarding the allegedly unfair election.

“Our brightest days are before us, our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security because nobody, until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9:00 in the evening and say, ‘I want to thank you very much,’ and they go off to some other life, but I said, ‘Something’s wrong here. Something’s really wrong. Can’t have happened.’ And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he said.

“We’re gathered together in the heart of our nation’s Capitol for one very, very basic and simple reason, to save our democracy,” said then-President Trump. “We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

Earlier in the day, President Joe Biden criticized former President Donald Trump for what the Democratic party considered an attempt to prevent a peaceful transfer of power following the 2020 presidential election, YahooNews reports.

“For the first time in our history, a president had not just lost an election. He tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power as a violent mob reached the Capitol,” Biden said. “But they failed.”

If it were Democrats that were at Capitol on Jan. 6th it would have been burned out and completely destroyed, and there would be no mention of it in the news. Karl Rove and “W” should be ashamed of the apparent sell out they have joined in on !!
