The Dallas Fire-Rescue received a call about a house fire in the 10600 block of Cade Drive in Southeast Dallas on Sept. 27. Firefighters arrived at the scene just after noon to a fire that had progressed to a substantial burn engulfing the front of the house. They approached the fire offensively but were forced to take a defensive posture as the fire continued to progress.
With a defensive posture, the firefighters were able to control the burn and extinguish the well-advanced fire within an hour of their arrival at the scene.
Dallas Fire-Rescue said that though it is unclear how many people were in the house when the fire started, everyone made it out safely. The only casualty of the fire was a dog, whose body was recovered from inside the house after the fire was extinguished.
Investigators are still looking to uncover the cause of the fire.
