If you grew up in Texas, at least a couple of these are staples you associate with a Texas summer: a full-flavored jar of sun tea, floating the river in the Hill Country, or sitting in the stands at a Rangers or Astros game. For Stephen Rose, who grew up in Georgia, his foundational summertime childhood memory was eating fresh peaches.
After moving from his hometown to Tennessee, he missed them deeply. The perfectly ripe, juicy flavor of a Georgia peach was hard to find in Nashville grocery stores. Hence, in 2012, he and his wife, Jessica, decided to drive their 1964 Jeep Gladiator to Stephen’s hometown farm and load it up with as many hand-picked Georgia peaches as they could fit into the truck.
That road trip assuaged Stephen’s craving for peaches; however, the Rose family discovered their Nashville neighbors also had a hankering for farm-fresh peaches. That summer, the Stephens family and their local community devoured over ten tons of fresh peaches in five weeks.
Thus The Peach Truck company was born.
Now in its tenth year, The Peach Truck is bringing the deliciousness of Georgia peaches to as many people as possible, including Texans.
What makes peaches from The Peach Truck different is its commitment to freshness.
It all starts with the passionate growers who use eco-conscious farming techniques. Each peach comes from a Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) or PRIMUS certified hometown farm “where the farmland is cared for just as much as the produce,” the company promises. The fruit is picked at the “perfect time” and packed and shipped the same day.
Peach-lovers can pre-order their 25-pound boxes of peaches and then pick them up at a local “pitt”-stop on the designated date and time.
The company also offers other quality items such as Georgia pecans, peach jam, biscuit mix, peach salsa, peach syrup, peach hot sauce, and The Peach Truck Cookbook. All products can be shipped nationwide.
If you are looking for another reason to love summer, this is it.
The Peach Truck Tour will make delivery stops in Dallas-Fort Worth in June and July. Specific dates vary depending on where you live in the metroplex.
