Federal prosecutors are requesting a life sentence for an Oak Cliff widow who admitted to plotting her husband’s murder on October 9, 2020.
Previously, The Dallas Express reported that 49-year-old Jennifer Faith admitted to being the mastermind in her husband’s murder-for-hire death.
Faith was convicted of plotting with her old high school flame, 49-year-old Darrin Ruben Lopez, to murder her husband, 49-year-old James “Jamie” Faith.
According to federal authorities, James and his wife were walking the family dog when Lopez, who was wearing a mask, shot him seven times with a .45-caliber handgun — once in the groin, three times in the head, and three times in the torso — before fleeing the scene in his truck.
Prosecutors said Lopez and Jennifer had been in an “emotional relationship” in the weeks leading up to the murder.
Jennifer had convinced Lopez to carry out the murder by telling him that James was abusive — both physically and sexually — towards her.
During investigations, Lopez admitted to shooting James three times in the head so he would die quickly.
Lopez, a veteran of multiple covert missions in Iraq, also told investigators that the shot in the groin was retaliation for the sexual abuse that he thought James was inflicting upon his wife.
According to The Dallas Morning News, federal prosecutors now demand that Jennifer be sentenced to life in prison due to her duplicity, greed, and lack of remorse.
According to a March 22 sentencing memo by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Calvert, Jennifer is a “cold-blooded murderer,” and she is without remorse. Reportedly, she has continued a pattern of manipulation from her jail cell while she awaits sentencing.
According to the memo, Jennifer wrote to her father two days before she pleaded guilty to the murder claiming she was innocent.
“There have been a lot of things published in the media,” Jennifer wrote to her father. “Things the prosecutor has leaked. But much of it is so twisted and taken out of context, it paints a damning picture and has resulted in a false charge of murder-for-hire against me.”
Jennifer also filed a claim to collect James’ $629,000 life insurance policy one month after his murder. She reportedly had additional plans to get her hands on James’ retirement account worth nearly $400,000.
During a TV interview shortly after her husband’s murder, Jennifer said the vehicle used by the suspect had a distinctive sticker on the rear window.
Jennifer then sent Lopez a message asking him to remove the sticker on his vehicle two days after the interview.
“The defendant’s conduct, both before and after her husband’s murder was extraordinarily heinous and cruel,” Calvert wrote in the sentencing memo. “The one person that Jamie Faith loved and trusted more than any other led him to his death.”
Jennifer is scheduled to be sentenced on May 26, while Lopez is awaiting trial for the murder.
