A charter bus belonging to charter bus company Del Rio got stuck in ice on Woodall Rodgers freeway on January 3, NBC 5 News reports. The bus had slid against the railing on the road and came to a halt beside the siding of an elevated ramp.

The incident caused the road to be blocked from the I-35E northbound ramp to the eastbound Woodall Rodgers freeway as road crews tried to contain the situation.  

Officials said the bus had 24 people on it when the incident happened. This number includes the two drivers on the bus.

Per NBC 5 News, the bus was traveling to the company’s base in Springfield, Arkansas. It was coming from Morelia, the capital of the Mexican state of Michoacán, one of the areas Del Rio services.

Per NBC 5 News, company officials said that the bus left Morelia five hours before its scheduled departure time due to the icy weather.
