Shoppers on the go at DFW International Airport might find convenience shopping much easier as Amazon has filed paperwork to build an Amazon Go store inside Terminal D.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the new convenience-type store will be the first Amazon Go in Texas or inside of an international airport.

The 600-square-foot kiosk will allow customers to pick out items in the cashier-less store after downloading the Amazon Go app. Upon arrival, shoppers tap “in-store code” within the app and scan in with the QR code presented. Once they have picked out their items and exited the store, the credit card tied to their Amazon account is charged, and a receipt is sent to the customer’s email.

Patrons can also use Amazon One, a convenient and contactless way for people to use their palms to enter and pay for purchases at Amazon Go. If the shopper decides they do not want the item, they can return it to the store shelf. The cashier-less system introduced at Amazon Go will also be available at Amazon Fresh grocery stores.

Amazon Go will offer hot breakfast items, local baked goods, sandwiches, salads, wraps, bottled beverages, fountain drinks, coffee, espresso, and beer and wine.

There will be Amazon employees inside the Amazon Go store working as greeters and stockers and will be available to answer questions and make product recommendations.

According to the Dallas Morning News, construction for the Amazon Go Store is expected to be completed by July 31, 2022, and will cost an estimated $650,000.

There are currently twenty-four Amazon Go stores nationwide in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Amazon’s home city of Seattle.

In January, The Dallas Express reported that Amazon filed paperwork to open a store at the Galleria in Dallas. Scheduled construction starts in April. However, no other details are available about the type of Amazon store planned for the location.
