The Dallas-Fort Worth area was rocked by severe weather Tuesday morning, leaving more than 600,000 people without power.

Oncor has reported outages in Dallas, Collin, Denton, and Tarrant counties. In Dallas County, over 350,000 customers are without power. Nearly 50,000 customers in Denton and Tarrant counties and 75,000 in Collin County are suffering from the outages. 

“We are currently monitoring and responding to outages caused by thunderstorms producing large hail and wind gusts up to 80 mph in DFW and surrounding areas. Severe storm watches and warnings remain in effect for parts of our service area”, according to the Oncor website. “We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.”

It is still unknown when the power to these counties across the DFW area will be restored.

Oncor is encouraging customers to report an outage or check the status of an outage in their area by texting OUT to 66267, clicking “report an outage” on the map, using the MyOncor app, or calling 888-313-4747. Oncor also warns to stay away from downed power lines and call 911 immediately to report an incident.
