A Tarrant County College professor faced backlash after posting remarks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Kirk, a political commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was murdered during a Q&A at Utah Valley University on September 10. The event marked the first stop of TPUSA’s “American Comeback Tour,” which would visit campuses nationwide.

Martin Guerra-West, an English professor at Tarrant County College and a former Dallas College instructor, drew attention after the account Libs of TikTok highlighted his response to Kirk’s assassination.

The professor’s comments sparked criticism from local leaders.

“Yesterday evening, I was alerted to a deeply disturbing social media post that appears to have been authored by a professor at Tarrant County College. The post references the violent death of Charlie Kirk and includes language that appears to justify the tragedy, stating, ‘you reap what you sow,’” TCC Trustee Laura Pritchett wrote on Facebook.

“Upon receiving this information, I promptly notified Chancellor LeBlanc via email, urging a swift investigation into the matter. I appreciate the Chancellor’s timely response and confirmation that the matter is being actively addressed,” she continued.

Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare also denounced Guerra’s comments.

“There are people all across the country who are celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk. There are also people all across the country losing their jobs due to ignorant, heartless and cowardly social media posts about his assassination,” O’Hare told The Dallas Express.

“This guy should be one of them,” O’Hare said.

The Dallas Express contacted TCC Chancellor LeBlanc, the Board of Trustees, and Guerra for a statement, but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
