The Texas Veterans Commission’s Veterans Education Program recently awarded the University of Texas at Dallas the Veteran Education Excellence Recognition Award.

According to the program’s website, the university and thirteen other Texas higher education institutions received the award in recognition of excellence in education and related services that contribute to the academic success of student veterans and military-connected students.

According to Dallas Morning News, the fourteen colleges and universities received three levels of recognition in a nod to the services they provide for veteran students and their families.

The three levels of recognition are gold, silver, and bronze, and UT-Dallas was one of nine schools awarded the gold recognition.

In a UT-Dallas press release, Lisa Adams, director of the Military and Veteran Center and a former Air Force pilot, said the award shows the significance of having a center and dedicated staff for military-affiliated students at institutions of higher education.
