Update: August 20, 2025, at 4:05 PM. This article has been updated to include the following response from RCA to The Dallas Express. The identity of the individual representing RCA refused to identify themselves.
“Neither the UNT Marxists, nor the Revolutionary Communists of America, promote violence. Our poster is a contrast. It states ‘Expropriate the billionaires’, which can only be done by the establishment of a workers’ government. A workers’ government would mean that the working class would create its own political party and this would need to win over the majority of the workers. This is in sharp contrast with single individuals who try to look for ‘political shortcuts.’ That is the contrast that is depicted in the poster. We believe that people need to engage in collective action – party building, union organizing, mass protests – these are the methods that will eventually change society.”

A communist cell is openly operating at the University of North Texas in Denton, which appears to be promoting violence against the wealthy.
The Dallas Express has discovered communist propaganda at UNT. One poster reads “Expropriate The Billionaires,” with a picture of Luigi Mangione, the alleged assassin of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Another poster reads, “Are You A Communist?”
UNT Marxists, a communist cell, is currently active on campus. It works closely with the Revolutionary Communists of America (RCA), the extreme national group that created the propaganda.
Eighteen members of RCA-Dallas traveled to UNT’s back-to-school kickoff event, the Mean Green Fling, on August 13 to enlist students. They denounced both President Donald Trump and the Democratic Party. That same day, RCA recruited 90 interested students on campus and sold 27 copies of its magazine, The Communist, at the event. The group is scheduling meetings with the students who signed up, and “many are planning to attend communist cell meetings.”
“So many students were swarming us that we couldn’t even speak with all of them despite having a large number of organized communists involved,” per the group’s website.
UNT Marxists and RCA are planning an upcoming event called “Sick of Capitalism? You Should Be A Communist.”
This UNT Marxists event is set for August 29 at 4 p.m., at Denton’s Wesley Foundation Church – a “ministry” near campus, backed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of North America (ELCA) and the United Methodist Church. Speakers will reportedly be discussing “how we can overthrow the parasites holding back humanity from progressing once and for all.”
“It is only by overthrowing the capitalist system that the working class can gain control of the plentiful of wealth that already exists in society, and use it to rationally plan an economy that can meet everyone’s needs,” UNT Marxists posted.
This violent rhetoric comes after Antifa members ambushed an Alvarado ICE facility in July, shooting a police officer in the neck, as The Dallas Express reported at the time. Investigators found suspects with propaganda suggesting their motive was “insurrection,” and the alleged shooter recently confirmed his far-left ideology.
RCA: A Deeper Look
UNT Marxists attended anti-ICE and ‘No Kings’ mobilizations earlier this year, calling to overthrow capitalism. They host communist meetings in Denton, advertised by RCA-Dallas.
The national communist group, RCA, is a movement of self-described revolutionary “Bolsheviks” fighting for the “overthrow of capitalism.” It explicitly endorses “militant class struggle,” calling the labor movement to return to its “fighting roots.”
A chilling propaganda video from the group calls for “expropriating the capitalists” – or seizing their property – and “building socialism.”
“Expropriate the banks, expropriate the monopolies,” one communist said in the video. “On the basis of a government of the working class, we will transform society.”
RCA is an offshoot of Revolutionary Communist International, active in 70 different countries. According to InfluenceWatch, RCI sprang up from groups founded by the late “Trotskyist” Ted Grant.
Grant founded the group “Militant Tendency,” which infiltrated the U.K.’s Labour Party with communist sympathizers in the 1980s. He and another communist left that group in the 1990s, starting a global communist group that would eventually become RCI – the parent group of RCA.
Communism has killed more than 100 million people across the globe through starvation and political persecution, according to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. It has manifested in authoritarian regimes from China to Cuba to North Korea to the USSR.
The Dallas Express reached out to UNT for comment, but did not hear back in time for publication.
