One suspect has been arrested after a shooting outside a local high school on Tuesday.
According to the Greenville ISD Police Department, the shooting occurred at Greenville High School outside the school’s athletic facility.
The incident involved the ex-wife of a Greenville High School staff member and coach.
The ex-spouse “attempted to harm the staff member via a firearm, firing a single shot outside the Roy Q Traylor Athletic Facility,” per the GPD update Greenville ISD posted on social media.
According to eGreenvilleExtra Hunt County Scanner, the suspect fired the shot from inside a Volkswagen in the direction of people gathered outside at the athletic fields.
Greenville ISD police were already on campus and received assistance from Greenville police, Greenville Fire and Rescue, and AMR Hunt County, per eGreenvilleExtra.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. after student workouts had finished around noon inside the facility. No students or staff were injured.
“We want to thank the Greenville ISD Police Department, Greenville Police Department, and other first responders for their swift response,” Greenville ISD shared on social media.
McCloud, 45, was booked into the Hunt County Detention Center. McCloud’s bond total is set at $105,000.
McCloud is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully carrying a firearm in a gun-free school zone.
