Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has expanded his investigation into the controversial EPIC City development by demanding records from the Plano Independent School District.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, Paxton is seeking communications between school board members and individuals associated with the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), which is affiliated with the EPIC City project.

The move follows remarks by Plano Mayor John Muns, who allegedly discussed facilitating dialogue between Plano ISD board officials and EPIC representatives.

Paxton’s office has already requested records from city officials in Plano, Richardson, Wylie, and Josephine regarding their involvement with the development.

“My office is demanding documents from Plano ISD officials who may have communicated with individuals involved with EPIC City as part of our ongoing investigation into this development,” said Attorney General Paxton. “We will thoroughly review the records we receive and hold anyone who violates Texas law accountable.”

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Paxton expanded his investigation earlier this month to include multiple North Texas cities over concerns about possible improper coordination or influence surrounding the EPIC City project. The project has sparked controversy due to its religious affiliations and land use implications.

The investigation remains ongoing.
