The Lewisville Independent School District has named a former math teacher, Lori Rapp, the lone finalist for its new superintendent.
According to NBC 5 News, Lewisville ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted to make Doctor of Education Lori Rapp the district’s next superintendent of schools.
While responding to news of her appointment, Rapp said she was sincerely appreciative to the district’s Board of Trustees for the “incredible honor” of being named the lone finalist for the district she has served for her entire career in education.
Rapp added that she is looking forward to serving the students, families, staff, and community of the Lewisville Independent School District.
According to NBC 5 News, Board President Tracy Scott Miller said the district’s Board of Trustees are confident that they have found the best candidate to continue Lewisville ISD’s achievements and lead the “exceptional district” to new heights.
“I’d like to thank the LISD staff, community, and students for providing their input during our search for our next leader. It has been truly uplifting to see how engaged our stakeholders are in the future of our district,” Miller said according to NBC 5 News.
The district released in a statement that Lori Rapp has served the district in various roles, including chief learning and teaching officer, director of Pre-K through 12 curricula, executive director of learning design and support, and deputy superintendent.
Rapp received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University and began her career at the district as a math teacher at The Colony High School in 1996. She earned a Masters of Science in Mathematics from Texas Woman’s University and her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.
The district is now required by Texas law to wait twenty-one days before making Rapp’s new appointment official. During the waiting period, Rapp will replace outgoing LISD superintendent Dr. Kevin Rogers, who is retiring.
