Richardson ISD is among the school districts providing students with supplies this summer. The district announced that it plans to give out 7,500 backpacks to students.

The free backpack program is part of Richardson ISD’s annual Backpack Bash, which provides families with backpacks, hygiene kits, school supply kits, and more.

In summer 2021, the Backpack Bash program handed out more than 5,000 backpacks and school supply kits. The district is aiming for 7,500 backpacks this summer.

“The event also connects RISD families to programs and services in a festive back-to-school fair atmosphere,” the district said.

The district will distribute the backpacks in two events — one on July 30 and another on August 6.

Every child enrolled in a school within Richardson ISD qualifies for a backpack.

Parents and guardians interested in getting a backpack for their child(ren) can register here. Donations can also be made on the site to contribute to the program.
