An alarm which police determined was false led to a heavy police presence at Haltom Middle School on February 9.

Per CBS 11 News, police said that students and staff were evacuated from the Haltom Middle School campus in their hundreds at 5000 block of Hutchison Way.

Administrators said in a statement that they received a report of a person possibly entering a back door at the school around lunchtime. The school was then placed in lockdown.

Mark Thomas, Chief Communications Officer at Birdville ISD said that authorities take care of safety first. “We locked down the school, we made sure the students and staff were safe,” he said.

However, when police arrived, nothing was found and they determined that no one entered the school building.

Police are investigating the incident to determine whether someone truly saw someone enter the school or if the call was a prank.

The school resumed classes on February 10.
