Fort Worth community centers are offering free back-to-school events throughout August, featuring school supplies, haircuts, and carnival games.
The citywide initiative kicks off Friday, August 1, at Como Community Center with a College Dorm Giveaway.
The events aim to help families prepare for the upcoming school year while building community connections through fun activities.
College-bound students can visit the Como Community Center on Friday, August 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for dorm essentials. The giveaway targets incoming freshmen needing supplies for their new living spaces.
Eugene McCray Community Center hosts a carnival-style celebration on Saturday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event promises games alongside practical school preparation resources.
Additional events are scheduled at community centers citywide. Each location offers different activities, from free haircuts to backpack distributions.
Families can search for nearby events through the city’s online activity portal. The website allows filtering by location and date to find convenient options.
All events are free and open to the public. No registration is required for most activities, though supplies are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
