Fort Worth parents seeking after-school care can register their children for fall programs at 20 community centers starting August 12.
The city’s After-School Program offers academic support, recreation, and cultural activities weekdays from dismissal until 6 p.m.
With many families juggling work schedules and school hours, affordable childcare remains a pressing need. The program addresses this gap while offering enrichment opportunities that extend beyond traditional daycare.
Open to students ages 5-13, the program features homework help, physical activities, and creative projects. Daily snacks are included, and select locations offer transportation from nearby schools.
Fort Worth Parks and Recreation designed the curriculum to support “cognitive, social, physical, and emotional outcomes.” The community-driven approach enables each center to tailor its activities to the specific needs of its neighborhood.
Costs vary by location; however, scholarships and discounts may be available to reduce fees for qualifying families. Parents must register online using a credit card or an electronic check.
The program runs Monday through Friday throughout the school year. Interested families should contact their nearest community center for specific pricing and transportation availability.
Registration remains open while spaces last at participating centers across Fort Worth.
