The Dallas Independent School District has made safety a top priority with its risk management program established in 1990.  

Recently, twenty schools in the district were named Top Safe Schools. Henry B. Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy and John F. Peeler Elementary School received the Eagle Safety Award as winners of the district’s Risk Management Department’s District Top 20 Safe School contest.

The Eagle Safety Award recognizes these schools as tops in the Dallas ISD for prioritizing safety by conducting in-house inspections, safety training, and drills and promoting safety in their day-to-day routine. 

During August’s annual campus safety coordinator training, twenty Dallas ISD schools were tagged as “safe schools.” First place winner Henry B. Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy and second-place finisher John F. Peeler Elementary School received an Eagle Safety Award to display on their campuses.

The Risk Management Services department is a division of Dallas ISD financial services. It is “responsible for identifying, evaluating, treating, and monitoring the district’s operational risks.” The entire department encompasses approximately 20,000 employees, 157,000 students, and 300 district facilities.
