Dallas ISD students will get an extended weekend with fall break scheduled for Thursday, October 9, through Monday, October 13.
The break offers families a chance to enjoy the State Fair of Texas with free or discounted tickets to students across all grade levels.
Teachers will return on Monday, October 13, for professional development. Students resume classes on Tuesday, October 14.
Elementary and middle school students receive complimentary State Fair admission tickets. High schoolers get discount codes for online ticket purchases, valid Monday through Thursday only.
Families should budget for food, games, and rides at the fairgrounds. The district emphasized students should “demonstrate appropriate behavior so everyone can enjoy the fair responsibly while representing themselves, their schools, and families in a positive way.”
Fair security will escort students exhibiting “illegal and/or dangerous behavior” from the premises. These measures align with the venue’s existing safety protocols.
The State Fair enforces a strict minors policy after 5 p.m. All visitors 17 and under must have adult supervision from someone at least 21 years old.
Additional details about fair policies and schedules are available on the fair’s website.
