Dallas ISD will host a back-to-school event on August 2, where parents can register children for the upcoming school year and receive free supplies.

The kickoff runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 S. Polk St., according to district officials.

The event provides families with a one-stop shop to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year. On-site registration is available for pre-K through 12th grade, and students will receive backpacks, school supplies, and other services while supplies last.

Parents should bring specific documents to complete the enrollment process. Required paperwork includes birth certificates for new students, parent photo ID, proof of address, and immunization records.

Social Security cards are optional. Pre-K families require additional documentation to verify their eligibility.

Acceptable pre-K eligibility documents include proof of income, benefit letters from Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF programs, and documentation of foster care. Military families can provide service documentation, while first responders should bring Star of Texas paperwork.

The district maintains specific policies on school supplies and backpacks. Parents seeking details about supply lists, the clear backpack requirement, and enrollment procedures can visit the district’s back-to-school webpage.

The Ellis Davis Field House location provides ample space for the community event. Families should plan to arrive early to secure the best selection of supplies and experience shorter wait times.

The 2025-2026 school year begins on August 12.
