A Canadian staff member faces scrutiny after allegedly showing 10- and 11-year-old students video footage of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and assassinated on September 10 during a Q&A session at Utah Valley University. The event was part of the group’s “American Comeback Tour.”

Reportedly, at Corvette Junior Public School in Toronto, a staff member, who was not the homeroom teacher, played a video depicting Kirk’s death to a Grade 5/6 French Immersion class.

“We are writing to inform you about an incident that is reported to have taken place in your child’s class yesterday. During class, students were said to have been shown a portion of a violent video in response to questions being asked about a recent tragic event in the United States. The video is believed to have been shown once by a staff member supervising the class who is not the homeroom teacher. While an investigation must still be conducted to learn all of the details, the report of this incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable,” the school’s official statement read.

School administrators placed the staff member on leave as of September 12 while they conduct their investigation.

“We recognize the seriousness of this matter and have taken immediate steps to follow all appropriate policies and procedures,” the statement continued.

Parents said the playing of the video had already harmed students and that several children suffered nightmares after the incident.

“Several students from his class went home and complained to their parents, traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over,” a source told the Toronto Sun.
