The superintendent from Itasca ISD near Dallas was one of seven people arrested in an undercover sex sting, Harris County Constable Alan Rosen said.
Michael Stephens, 47, was taken into custody for planning a trip to Houston to engage in sexual activity with an underage girl, Rosen said.
Itasca is about a one-hour drive southwest of Dallas.
Stephens is a former coach, assistant principal and principal in various school districts around the state, Rosen said.
“You must make it a priority to know what your children are doing online,” Rosen wrote in a Facebook post. “As you can see by this sting operation, there are dangerous predators out there grooming our children and can cause great harm.”
Stephens allegedly sent photos of himself to an undercover investigator, Rosen said.
Stephens is married with no children, according to Rosen.
The Dallas Express has reached out to the district for comment.
The Itasca ISD website still has Stephens listed as the superintendent.
