A new ranking of the top private elementary schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth area has been released.

Earlier this month, Niche, an education information website, released a series of school rankings for 2024, including a compilation of the 2024 Best Private Elementary Schools in DFW.

As reported earlier by The Dallas Express, the area’s best high schools were also ranked and varied very little from the list of elementary schools.

The ranking system utilized by Niche analysts focused on several factors, including the student-teacher ratio, surveys from parents and students, and the percentage of graduates who go on to four-year colleges.

Here is a closer look at the highest-ranking private elementary schools in the area.

No.1 – St. Mark’s School of Texas

St. Mark’s School of Texas sits not only on top of Niche’s private elementary school ranking but also on its middle and high school lists. It is located in the Dallas neighborhood of Preston Hollow.

This all-boys institution has a student body of 911 and offers grades 1 to 12. Prospective students can expect a robust academic atmosphere, with 95% of survey takers saying its students are competitive, and a yearly tuition fee of approximately $35,821.

No.2 – Greenhill School

Much like on the top private high school list, the Greenhill School in Addison has 1,373 boys and girls enrolled this year from pre-K to grade 12. While not scoring as highly as St. Mark’s in athletics — B minus compared to A plus — this institution has a student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1 in pre-K and 9:1 for the remaining grades.

Pre-K costs $30,480, with annual fees increasing each grade level to approximately $38,050 by senior year.

No.3 – The Hockaday School

Coming in third is an all-girls institution in North Dallas, tucked into the neighborhood of Russwood Acres. The Hockaday School also placed third in the high school ranking.

Offering schooling to students from pre-K to grade 12, it had a student body of 1,110 and a student-teacher ratio of 9:1 this year.

Considered by Niche to be the best all-girls school in Texas, the annual tuition fee is roughly $30,935.

No.4 – Alcuin School

Landing in the fourth spot is the Alcuin School, a smaller institution for pre-K to grade 12 with a student body of 587. Tuition for pre-K costs approximately $16,690 a year, with the rates increasing to $29,400 by grade 12. Children as young as 2 years old can be enrolled.

No.5 – The Episcopal School of Dallas

The Episcopal School of Dallas rounds out the top five, both for private elementary schools and private high schools in DFW, according to Niche.

A total of 1,170 students have enrolled this year from pre-K to grade 12. A student-teacher ratio of 7:1 can be found in pre-K, with other grades seeing 8:1.
