Back-to-school shopping just got a boost for some West Dallas families, as the Buckner Family Hope Center handed out backpacks, school supplies, and new shoes to 400 local children.

In collaboration with the Rangers Foundation and Comerica, the Buckner Family Hope Center assists families with difficulties affording school supplies for their children.

It is estimated that Texas families spend $268 per child for back-to-school supplies and clothing.

More than 100 families who participate in the Rangers Academy attended the drive-through distribution on July 29. The pre-registered families received one backpack per child, which contained school supplies. Additionally, more than 200 new pairs of shoes were given out to youngsters.

The Buckner Family Hope Centers are child-centered, family-focused places where families go to find hope, support, and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest potential.

This faith-based nonprofit ministry is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children, families, and senior adults.

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation has focused its resources on programs and grants for youth in the areas of baseball, health, education, and crisis assistance for nearly 30 years. Its core programs impact more than 13,000 children each year.

Since 1991, the foundation has invested $30 million to support the community and improve the lives of local children.
