A statewide operation dubbed Operation Lightning Bug has rescued more than 30 missing children and disrupted trafficking networks, according to Audacy News.
From July 28 to August 15, the U.S. Marshals Service and San Antonio Police executed nine felony warrants, made three arrests, recovered six sex-trafficking survivors, opened five new trafficking investigations, and saw more than 120 juveniles voluntarily return home.
Each recovered child was interviewed by SAPD’s Special Victims Unit and referred to support services. U.S. Marshal Susan Pamerleau said, “The safety of our children is the safety of our communities.”
