Los Angeles County declared a local state of emergency over ongoing ICE enforcement, approving rent relief for tenants who fell behind and allocating taxpayer-funded legal aid and services. The Board of Supervisors passed the measure 4–1, introduced by Lindsey P. Horvath and Janice Hahn, with Kathryn Barger opposing. “For months, families have lived under threat and workers have been taken from job sites,” Horvath said.

The declaration authorizes mobilization of county resources, requests for state and federal assistance, and expedited contracting to address impacts, and remains in effect until the board terminates it.
