Authorities reported one man died, and another was hospitalized after diving into a Rockwall County Lake late Sunday.

According to department spokesman Jason Evans, Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were dispatched to Lake Ray Hubbard shortly before 10 p.m., where the two men had leaped from a boat into the water.

First responders pronounced one of the men dead at the scene. Another man was rescued from the water and given CPR by Rockwall County Emergency Management Services workers. He was transported to the hospital, and his condition was unknown on Monday morning.

The boat had four passengers on board, including the two men and a dog. The men’s reason for jumping off is unknown, although Evans believes the boat may have stalled. Neither man was wearing a personal floatation device. The boat’s other two passengers were rescued.

Neither of the men’s identities has yet been released.

In another drowning incident on Sunday, a Grand Prairie man was reportedly swimming in Joe Pool Lake when he went missing. The man’s body was later found around 5:30 p.m. by Grand Prairie Fire Department crews.

The unidentified victim was not wearing a life vest. The City of Grand Prairie urges its residents to use appropriate swim safety wear as the lake season approaches.
