The annual Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival on Greenville Avenue is back this year after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festivities will take place on Saturday, March 12, and will include activities for all ages.
According to Culture Map, parade organizers made the decision in late January to bring the event back in full force this year.
Mauricio Navarro, the parade producer, stated, “We came in with the idea that the parade was always going to go on. When we saw the Omicron spike, we had to consider cancellation but we decided to wait it out, and thank God we did, because it’s happening.”
The Greenville Avenue Area Business Association organizes the event each year. According to Fox 4 News, Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, is a major sponsor of the annual event. He has reportedly contributed $50,000 to the event each year for the past decade.
This year, former Mavericks’ legend Dirk Nowitzki will serve as grand marshal. The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. on Greenville Avenue at the intersection of Blackwell Street and will end at SMU Boulevard.
The activities will include a block party and concert at Energy Square, located at 4925 Greenville Avenue, beginning at 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Food trucks and beverage vendors will be on hand to provide refreshments.
The 40 Acre Mule, a rhythm and blues band from Dallas, and the Toadies, a rock band from Fort Worth, will perform at the concert. For concert tickets for the St. Patrick’s Day performance, click here.
There are two DART locations close to the festivities at the Lovers Lane Station and the Park Lane Station.
