Dallas Express Sports Network’s Chris Yates got a behind-the-scenes look at the National Soccer Hall of Fame, sitting down with Executive Director Djorn Buchholz to explore what makes the venue unique.
Buchholz described the Hall of Fame as more than a museum — calling it a fully interactive experience built around personalization.
“No people have the same experience inside of here,” he said, noting the use of facial recognition technology and customized exhibits designed for each visitor.
The Hall features more than 400 artifacts chronicling the history of soccer in the United States, including what Buchholz called its “crown jewels” — the U.S. women’s national team’s World Cup trophies from 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019.
The venue also highlights the growth of soccer in America dating back to the 1800s, along with memorabilia from major moments in the sport’s history.
With Dallas set to host multiple matches during the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Buchholz said the Hall of Fame is preparing for a surge of visitors.
“It’s going to be the largest sporting event that has ever taken place in the world,” he said.
