The Frisco Heritage High School boys basketball team delivered one of the most dramatic moments of the Texas high school basketball season.
With eight seconds left and the biggest game in Frisco ISD boys basketball history tied at 63-63, Frisco Heritage star and SMU signee Cameron Lomax took the ball and drove toward the basket.
Despite heavy defensive pressure, Lomax hit a contested floater with one second remaining to give Heritage a 65-63 win and send the program to the Texas state Final Four.
The dramatic shot ignited a celebration and secured a historic milestone for the school. Heritage becomes the first boys basketball team from Frisco Independent School District to reach the state championship game.
After the game, Lomax described the moment as one of the biggest shots of his life.
“It’s definitely one of them,” he said. “I can put that in the book.”
Frisco Heritage will now face Beaumont Westbrook in the 5A Division I state title game at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
