Cane Rosso has expanded its footprint in North Dallas with a new location in the revitalized Hillcrest Village neighborhood, joining Brass Tap, Haystack Burgers, and Don Pepe’s Rancho Mexican Grill.
This is the famous Dallas pizza chain’s first location to open post-pandemic, meaning the spot is smaller than its previous counterparts due to the increased demand for delivery and to-go orders.
“We’ve obviously seen a huge turn towards takeout and delivery in the past couple of years, and we’ve built this restaurant with that in mind,” Cane Rosso founder and owner Jay Jerrier told Dallas CultureMap.
The 3,200-square-foot location has two patios, one of which — at 3,000 square feet — is almost as big as the restaurant and comes complete with games, picnic tables, and fire pits. A second 800-square-foot patio offers additional seating.
Despite the draw of the patios, the food doubtlessly remains the main attraction.
Cane Rosso is known for its Margherita pizza, made with San Marzano tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Another favorite is the “Honey Bastard” pizza, a once-off-menu specialty pizza with mozzarella, hot soppressata, bacon marmalade, and a habanero-infused honey drizzle.
The North Dallas Cane Rosso also features some menu items that are unique to the location. A new “Straight Fire” pizza, a former pizza of the month feature-made-staple, is topped with mozzarella, Calabrian chile béchamel, hot soppressata, mushrooms, and fresh jalapeños.
New pasta dishes include Cavateppi Vesuvio, with sausage, peppers, red pepper pesto, kale, sugo, parmesan cheese, and Ziti Alla Bolognese, made with brisket bolognese, ricotta, and parmesan cheese.
Half-priced wine is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while a happy hour Monday through Friday, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. means discounts on drinks, appetizers, and some pizzas.
