Oklahoma golf recruit and Dallas Highland Park golf star Hudson Weibel is ending his senior season in style, finishing in a third-place tie in individual competition in the UIL 5A State Golf Tournament.

Competing on the Scots title-winning Blue Team, Weibel fired a 143 to tie with senior teammate Thompson Huthnance and Granbury’s Ty Holbrook, earning the praise of Coach Johnny Ringo.

“Appreciate the great leadership from our captains this year leading the Scots to a first/third place finish,” Ringo posted on Twitter. “Thanks Hudson Weibel, Pierce Johnson and Thompson Huthnance for four great years.”

At the end of the day, Dallas Highland Park, which featured two teams, walked away with the team title and a third-place showing. The winning team score of 585 earned the school its 22nd state title and fourth in a row.

Sophomore star Preston Cooper bagged the overall individual title, firing scores of 70 and 71 on back-to-back days to finish at 141 overall.

Weibel first gave a verbal commitment to Oklahoma coach Ryan Hybl in 2010 when he was just 14-years-old.

“I picked OU because the majority of my family went there,” Weibel told Golfweek. “I grew up going to OU football games regularly. My dad also played golf there while my mom went to school there. I also love Coach Hybl and the other guys committed there.”

Weibel is rumored to have also considered several Texas schools, but never visited any of those schools.
