The Dallas Cowboys announced the team’s official schedule for training camp on Thursday, giving fans their first opportunity to know when they will get to see America’s Team on the field together for the first time ahead of the 2022 season.

The Cowboys will travel to Oxnard, California yet again this offseason, continuing a tradition the team reinstated in 2021 after skipping the trip in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Training camp will open on July 27, with the Cowboys hosting an opening ceremony that Saturday. The opening ceremony theme this year is “Cowboys Back Together” and will include fan fest events. This will be an opportunity for fans to meet many of their favorite players and experience training camp up close and personal.

Monday, August 1 will be the first pads-on practice of the season. The session will be open to the public, as will most of the Oxnard dates. August 3 will be a mock game that will be a chance to see how some of the Cowboys’ newly-drafted players and undrafted free agent picks will perform in a game-like situation.

The Cowboys are also hosting an event on August 8 in Oxnard to honor military and first-responders. The Heroes Appreciation Event is open to the public. Training camp in Oxnard will wrap up on August 10 when the team will return to Dallas ahead of the beginning of preseason.

The team is scheduled to participate in three co-practices in the preseason. The first will be with the Denver Broncos on August 11, ahead of that weekend’s preseason tilt. The Broncos are one of the more talked-about teams this offseason as they made a costly offseason trade to acquire quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks. The joint practice will be open to fans.

The Cowboys will have two additional joint practices against an AFC West team, travelling back to Southern California to share the field with the Los Angeles Chargers. These two training sessions will be restricted to Chargers season ticket holders. The Cowboys will play the Chargers in the second week of preseason action.

The final preseason game of the year will see the Seattle Seahawks come to the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. The game will be the last opportunity for players trying to make the cut before the final 53-man roster is released.

Dallas will play only three preseason games for the first time this season. A new rule went into effect last season in the wake of the expanded 17-game regular season that reduced preseason contests by one. The Cowboys were selected to play in the Hall of Fame Game, giving them four chances to work through new players on the bubble.

The regular season will open with the Cowboys at home on September 11, facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a rematch of Week 1 of the 2021 season. Dallas will look to avenge the season-opening loss last year as Cowboys defensive players potentially get their final look at Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady, who retired following the 2021 season only to come back for one more run at a championship in 2022.
