A woman was shot in the face in Fort Worth early Monday morning after flashing her headlights at a passing motorist, according to police.

Fort Worth Police were dispatched to a 7-Eleven gas station on 820 North Beach Street around 3:45 a.m. on July 4 after receiving a shooting call. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman had sustained an injury to the face.

The victim told police that as she was traveling west in the 4000 block of King’s Oak Lane close to North Beach, a car in the opposite lane approached with its high beam headlights alight. The woman “briefly illuminated her high beam headlamps to indicate to the approaching driver to dim their headlamps,” the police reported.

The victim was shot as the other driver passed her, prompting the woman to go to the 7-Eleven for assistance. The victim was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, where she is said to be in good condition.

This investigation is still underway, and there is no suspect in custody at this time.
