A gunman fired more than 36 rounds into an SUV in Dallas on Tuesday night, killing a 24-year-old woman and wounding her passenger before fleeing the scene.

The brazen attack in Central Oak Cliff left Kayli Lopez dead and a 21-year-old man hospitalized. Dallas police have yet to identify a suspect or motive.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. near the Wynnewood Village shopping center in the 2200 block of South Zang Boulevard. The victims were driving when the attacker opened fire from another vehicle.

Their Cadillac SUV, peppered with bullet holes, crashed into another car after the barrage. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Lopez died shortly after arrival. The male passenger is expected to survive, though his identity and relationship to Lopez remain undisclosed.

Detectives counted more than three dozen rounds fired into the SUV, Fox 4 KDFW reported. The suspect fled immediately, and police have not released a description of the getaway vehicle.

No arrests have been made.
