A Denton County woman was jailed after police said she murdered her husband in April.

Denton police officers arrested Amber Rosales, 30, last month after she allegedly shot and killed Jeffrey McBride, 31, according to a Denton PD press release.

Law enforcement conducted an extensive investigation before arresting Rosales a month later. Detectives determined Rosales’ statements were inconsistent, and evidence obtained led them to believe Rosales was the shooter, the release states.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of E. Sherman Avenue in Denton on April 25 after Rosales called 911 and claimed her husband had been shot. Dispatchers also received another call from a neighbor reporting a pickup truck had crashed in a nearby front yard.

Inside the crashed truck, officers found McBride unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound in the driver’s seat. Rosales was in the passenger seat. Medics rushed McBride to the hospital, where he later died.

Rosales told police the couple stopped on E. Sherman Avenue to speak with a man who then shot McBride from outside the vehicle. She claimed the assailant tossed the gun into the truck and then ran away. After being shot, McBride crashed the vehicle into the front yard, Rosales told police.

Detectives arrived on the scene and began investigating. Over the next month, they interviewed witnesses, spoke with family members, and reviewed surveillance footage.

Denton PD officers were granted a warrant and arrested Rosales at her home in Sanger on May 25. She is currently being held for murder at the Denton County jail on a $500,000 bond.
