A man’s violent threats against The Dallas Express and its employees appear to have been politically motivated, according to the contents of various emails sent directly to The Dallas Express.

The newspaper recently received a slew of threats of violence ranging from gunning down office staff, attacking an employees’ children, and physically mutilating a figure associated with the organization, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

“Your children, and, all of those you hold dear will die,” one of the emails read, with another asking, “How badly do you want someone to hunt and slaughter you and your family?”

Additional emails from the same sender indicate that the threats were seemingly motivated by political ideology, with the man taking particular exception to the newspaper’s journalism.

“F**k you and your garbage rag,” an email suggested, with another message calling the organization a “right-trash ‘newspaper.’”

The sender also attempted to offer some advice, writing, “get some new material: your tropes tripe and twisting of facts into fictions is such tired trolling.”

“You better protect your family with armed guards,” he continued.

Ironically, the sender referenced Dallas Express articles that were laden with nothing but facts on issues important to its Dallas-area readers.

The editor-in-chief of The Dallas Express, Karin Dyer, gave assurances that threats like the ones received would not dissuade the paper from covering important issues in the non-partisan manner it is known for.

The Dallas Express engages in reporting that other outlets are afraid or refuse to cover because of bias or prejudice. We will not stop. Nor will we be discouraged,” Dyer explained. “This only fuels our fire to continue offering Dallas an alternative to the singular polarized narrative they have heard for too long.”

Readers of The Dallas Express responded to the news with concern and encouragement.

“Praying for all of you at Dallas Express! Take care and be safe,” one commenter wrote, with another suggesting, “I hope your staff is taking measures on their own as well as collective measures.”

“Totally unacceptable and totally unnecessary to treat each other like this. No love toward fellow men whatsoever,” yet another reader responded. “Hopefully the authorities will find out who sent these messages and arrest them swiftly.”

These threats have been reported to the police and the FBI, and The Dallas Express office has taken measures to protect its staff.
