Two people were found dead in a burning home in Arlington on Thursday, reported CBS.
They were discovered by the Arlington Fire Department, which received a call to put out the fire at East Lynn Creek Drive. After extinguishing the fire, the firefighters discovered Mattie Prescott, 15, with an apparent gunshot wound.
The teen was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. A second victim, a female aged 51, whose name was not released, was also found dead with a gunshot wound.
Although police confirmed that the two deceased persons were related, they did not specify how.
The Tarrant County medical examiner ruled Prescott’s death a homicide, but police said they were not pursuing any suspects.
The initial call about a suicidal person was made around 5 p.m. Fox 4 reported that police were investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
