Victim Dies Days After New Year’s Day Shooting Near Dallas Nightclub

A man injured in a New Year’s Day shooting near a Dallas nightclub has died, and police are now investigating the incident as a homicide.

The Dallas Police Department said officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 3:45 a.m. on January 1 in the area of Empire Central near the northbound North Stemmons Freeway. The shooting occurred during an altercation in which multiple individuals were struck by gunfire.

As The Dallas Express previously reported, several victims were transported to local hospitals following the shooting. According to police, Dallas Fire-Rescue transported five victims from the scene.

One of those victims, Zecqurie Fields, 25, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died on January 5, 2026, police said.

Investigators are documenting the case as a homicide under case number 000112-2026. No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been announced.
