A home invasion in Arlington on April 11 left two people dead and another injured.
Arlington Police said they received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots along the 5300 block of Ivy Hill Drive just after midnight. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found three people with apparent gunshot wounds inside the home.
According to police, an 84-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the remaining two victims, a 41-year-old man identified as Matthew Stuart and a 67-year-old woman whose name has not been released, were taken to the hospital for treatment of their wounds. Stuart died at the hospital; the unnamed woman was treated and released.
Police say that an unidentified person forced their way into the home and began shooting at the victims. While detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting, they do not believe it was random. However, they did say that the attackers pose no immediate danger to the public.
According to NBC 5 News, another woman who emerged from the house said she was also a shooting victim. She did not identify herself, but said that Stuart was her son and the man police had found deceased was her ex-husband.
The woman further claimed that someone had recently broken into their home and stood over someone’s bed before leaving. It is unclear if the person who broke into the house is connected to the April 11 attack.
While the woman said that Arlington police had obtained surveillance video from the neighborhood, police have not revealed details of their ongoing investigation.
As officers continue to work toward resolving the case, they have asked anyone with information to call Detective Williams at 817-459-5312.
Tarrant County Crime Stoppers is also requesting information regarding the case. Tipsters can anonymously call 817-469-TIPS.
