Two Injured in Christmas Day Shooting

Plano police responded to a shooting call in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The authorities were alerted to the incident in the 3100 block of Kingston Drive at approximately 4 a.m. on December 25, according to a news release.

Neighbors reported that they had heard gunshots. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds and no armed suspects present.

The two victims were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Plano Police Crimes Against Persons Detective Unit conducted an investigation and coordinated the arrests of the suspects.

At approximately 2:40 p.m., two suspects were taken into police custody after a brief foot chase.

One suspect was identified as 20-year-old Jose Mendez from Garland, Texas. The other suspect is a juvenile, whose identity has not been released.

According to Plano Police Department, both Mendez and the unidentified juvenile have been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bond will be set at the arraignment of the suspects.

The investigation is still ongoing and further information has not yet been released.
