Someone fired a gun into a crowd at a nightclub on May 8, Fort Worth Police said.

At about 1:23 a.m., officers heard shots fired at Varsity Tavern, located at 1005 Norwood Street near Morton Street.

Upon arrival, responding officers found two gunshot victims. The two were transported to local hospitals. According to the police, they are in a stable state as their injuries were not critical.

Per The Star-Telegram, Fort Worth PD spokesperson Officer Tracy Carter said that witnesses told investigators a man shot into the crowd and then fled from the bar on foot. According to witnesses, there was a scuffle as people rushed out of the nightclub.

After the shooting, about 150 people were seen gathered on the sidewalks and in the middle of Morton Street. Small fights broke out among some of the groups. While police intervened in some of the fights, it is unclear if any arrests were made.

Some minutes later, at about 2 a.m., police began dispersing the crowd around the area. Two patrol cars and bicycle officers responded to Morris Street and ordered those gathered to get off the streets as other officers scattered the crowd around Varsity Tavern.

Police say their investigation is ongoing into the nightclub shooting incident and the assailant. No further information is yet available.
