Two suspects are behind bars after a body was found behind an east Dallas apartment complex, according to Dallas police.

Police received a call around 7 a.m. Sunday relating that a body was found behind the complex in the 7200 block of Ferguson Road.

Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded to the scene, and medics found the man had been shot.

After a preliminary investigation, officers determined the shooting did not occur in the complex. Further investigation led police to connect two suspects to the crime.

Officers charged Dairiyon Johnson, 26, and Karmeka Burks, 25, with capital murder in relation to the man’s killing.

The name of the victim will be released once the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office completes its investigation. No further information is available at this time.

As of Monday afternoon, both were still being held at the Dallas County jail. Johnson’s bail is set at $1 million, but no bail has been set for Burks.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and the Dallas Police Department asks anyone with information to contact Homicide Detective Abel Lopez by email at [email protected].
