Three Fort Worth teens were arrested Saturday night after allegedly leading Fort Worth and Dallas police officers on a high-speed chase, the Fort Worth Police Department told The Dallas Express.
FWPD responded to a possible racing call around 11:15 Saturday night. Responding officers found a crowd gathered at the scene, but the group scattered when officers arrived.
When officers tried to stop a vehicle from leaving the scene, the car reportedly took off at high speed toward a residential neighborhood.
Concerned for the safety of the neighborhood residents, officers chose to cut off the pursuit and instead shared a description of the vehicle with other units via radio.
A few minutes later, an officer stationed near Highway 183 saw a vehicle matching the description traveling around 100 miles per hour and tried to pull the car over for reckless driving. A pursuit ensued and came to an end near Gibbs William Circle in Dallas.
Three teenagers, Dathan Straw, 18, Xavier Fisher, 18, and Trequan Busby, 18, exited the vehicle and allegedly led police on a short foot chase. The Dallas Police Department provided its helicopter and officers, and the combined force took the three teens into custody.
Police charged Fisher and Busby with evading arrest and detention, a Class-A misdemeanor.
Straw, allegedly the vehicle’s driver, was charged with evading arrest and detention with a vehicle, a third-degree felony.
As of Monday afternoon, only Fisher was still listed as an inmate at Tarrant County Jail, with bond set at $750.
