Three Dallas police officers were terminated Thursday following disciplinary hearings with Chief Daniel Comeaux. The dismissals came after separate arrests for off-duty violent offenses and, in one case, multiple traffic-related violations.

The terminations affected officers across multiple divisions and ranks. Among those dismissed were a sergeant, a senior corporal, and a patrol officer.

Sergeant David Bayson, a 15-year veteran of the department, was arrested in October 2024 on a Class A misdemeanor charge of Assault – Family Violence. Bayson, who joined the department in January 2010, was most recently assigned to the General Investigations Division. He reportedly turned himself in to authorities in Farmers Branch following the incident.

Senior Corporal Raneen Bazzi, who joined the force in June 2015, was also terminated after being arrested in September 2024 on a Class A misdemeanor charge of Assault – Family Violence. At the time of her dismissal, she was assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. Bazzi’s attorney has claimed she was the victim in the incident and intends to appeal the termination.

Officer Jalen Thomas of the Northwest Patrol Division was the third officer terminated. He was arrested in July 2024 for Deadly Conduct, a Class A misdemeanor, after allegedly firing a gun into a neighbor’s apartment in Arlington. No injuries were reported. In addition to the arrest, Thomas had received two citations for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, leading to a suspended driver’s license. He joined the department in March 2022.

The dismissals come amid ongoing public scrutiny of police conduct nationwide. All three officers have the right to appeal their terminations through established departmental procedures.

Chief Comeaux has maintained a firm stance on officer misconduct since assuming leadership of the department. Thursday’s actions continue the department’s efforts to reinforce standards of accountability across the force.
