On Sunday, three children were injured in a shooting during an apparent road-rage incident in Balch Springs, according to police.

Police responded to several 911 reports of a shooting on westbound IH-20 between Beltline and Seagoville Road on July 24, 2022, around 5:19 p.m. Officers found that two cars were involved in a road-rage incident which led to one of the occupants allegedly firing shots.

A bullet struck an 8-year-old boy’s hip area. He was taken to a hospital in Dallas, where he is in stable condition.

There were also two other children, 1 and 5 years old, in the car at the time of the incident. They were transported to the hospital for the possibility they may have been struck by glass or other debris, according to police. The two had non-life-threatening injuries.

At least two other shots also struck a second vehicle, but no injuries were reported for that vehicle.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance locating the suspects as they have not yet made any arrests.

The driver is described as a Hispanic man of a thin build who has a goatee. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing an orange shirt. The gunman also appeared to be a Hispanic man, but with a large build. The two were in a dark-colored sedan.

Anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to contact Detective Traughber at 972-557-6000.

The Dallas Express reached out to the Balch Springs Police Department for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
