After leading police on a chase from Dallas to Irving on Thursday, three suspects are in custody, according to authorities.
The Dallas Police Department stated that officers were attempting to stop an automobile on July 28 that was allegedly stolen on Wednesday in Lancaster when the driver began swerving through traffic at a speed of 100 mph. A Dallas Police Department supervisor ordered ground units to retreat.
The vehicle was followed into Irving by Dallas Police Department’s AirOne helicopter.
Around 3:40 p.m., NBC News’ Texas Sky Ranger helicopter caught up with the driver as he sped down the President George Bush Turnpike in Irving in a dark-colored Dodge Challenger with orange racing stripes. The approximately 13-mile pursuit proceeded east on Texas 183 toward Dallas, north on Loop 12, and east on Interstate 635.
Near the end of the chase, one of the vehicle’s occupants allegedly threw a gun out a window.
The driver made multiple reckless turns in and out of business parking lots before speeding off toward an apartment complex in the 8000 block of McArthur Boulevard close to Valley Ranch Parkway and bailing out of the vehicle shortly after 4 p.m.
The suspects were quickly arrested after exiting the vehicle. Their names have not been released.
No injuries were reported during the police chase. No additional information surrounding the incident was released at the time of this article’s publishing.
