Texas state troopers seized over nine pounds of methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Wheeler County.

The bust highlights ongoing drug trafficking along the I-40 corridor connecting Arizona to Oklahoma.

A DPS trooper stopped a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu near Shamrock around 8:20 p.m. on September 22 for a traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper discovered vacuum-sealed packages of suspected methamphetamine hidden in luggage.

Officers also found plastic bags of marijuana and four THC vape pens. Criminal Investigation Division agents were called to assist.

Kametra Taylor, 42, and Stephon Mack, 22, both from Tulsa, Oklahoma, were arrested. They face felony possession charges for controlled substances and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

The pair was booked into Wheeler County Jail. Authorities believe the drugs were being transported from Arizona to Oklahoma.

The seizure occurred along the heavily trafficked interstate route. Wheeler County sits in the Texas Panhandle near the Oklahoma border.
